Brewpoint Coffee branched out to the Elmhurst Public Library with the grand opening of the new Brewpoint Coffee Lexicon Cafe on Saturday, Sept. 23.
“Our mission is to create and empower authentic community spaces and there’s no one that does [that] better than Elmhurst Public Library,” said Melissa Villanueva, co-founder and owner of Brewpoint Coffee. “It’s something that can increase the impact of our mission and the library’s mission.”
Elmhurst Public Library director Mary Beth Harper presented Brewpoint Coffee with the opportunity to take over the space of a retiring cafe.
“They were looking for a vendor and it was a perfect fit,” says Villanueva.
Villanueva said the vision behind Lexicon Cafe was that as Brewpoint expands, the friendliness and quality will remain consistent, but every space will have its own unique flair.
Brewpoint Coffee’s ten percent discount for Elmhurst College students also applies to the Lexicon Cafe location.
“Part of the thought process was that this will be a great addition for the Elmhurst College community,” says Villanueva. “I know a lot of people come to Brewpoint Founder’s cafe to study, but often times there’s just no seating.”
Villanueva hopes the Lexicon Cafe “will be an extra amenity for Elmhurst College students because it’s even closer to the campus and you have a lot of the same drinks to choose and a guaranteed place to study.”
The new location will also offer all-natural sodas and a Bookworm Fro-Ho (hot chocolate) specialty drink to cater to the library’s younger constituency.
